When you think of trendy dining options in Las Vegas, it’s only natural to think of the many celebrity chef restaurants found on the Strip. However, downtown Las Vegas is home to several hip eateries, too, that easily rival some of the Strip’s most delectable establishments.

CARSON KITCHEN

This popular eatery on 6th Street is one of downtown’s dining treasures. Open for lunch and dinner, guests can enjoy an array of ever-changing social plates, entrées, sandwiches and stone-oven flatbreads, like the Green, Eggs & Ham flatbread made with no-nut pesto, smoked mozzarella and tasso ham to give the dish a little kick. Every menu selection bursts with flavor, such as the succulent red wine poached pear and pomegranate Pork Chop, and the palate-pleasing Bacon Jam with baked Brie and toasted baguettes. While it’s only natural to want to sample as many plates as possible, be sure to save room for dessert. The Glazed Donut Bread Pudding is to die for! carsonkitchen.com

EVEL PIE

This cool new pizzeria on East Fremont Street pays tribute to legendary stunt performer Evel Knievel as well as authentic New York-style pizza. Guests can enjoy a slice or a pie while checking out Knievel’s family photographs on the walls and sipping a beer or Joseph James Brewing Company’s root beer on draft. Although pizzas can be customized with a variety of toppings, including rattlesnake sausage, it would be a shame to miss out on one of the signature pies, like the flavorful Hog Heaven topped with BBQ sauce, pulled pork, “Man Candy” (bacon candied with brown sugar and chilies), fontina, smoked mozzarella, fresh parsley and red onions. Fresh-baked “Led Zeppoles” are also available for dessert. evelpie.com
