Travel to Allegiant’s Newest Destinations in 2017

Allegiant announced a number of new destinations in 2016 including New York City; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Destin / Fort Walton Beach, Florida; and Washington D.C. Take advantage of the new year that’s upon us to check out these destinations and all the great things they offer. Below are a few must-see attractions in each destination that are sure to leave you with some memories in 2017!

TIMES SQUARE IN NEW YORK CITY

Times Square, one of the New York’s most easily recognizable landmarks, is located in Midtown Manhattan and is the centerpiece of the Broadway Theater District. The area is most famous for its flashy billboards and advertisements, which line the buildings surrounding the large pedestrian walkway. Over 300,000 people visit the area daily to take in its atmosphere, check out its hotels and dining options and of course people watch. EMERALD COAST WILDLIFE REFUGE ZOOLOGICAL REFUGE IN DESTIN 

Opened in June of 2013, this is one of Northwest Florida’s must-see attractions! Spanning 10 acres, this unique zoo serves as a sanctuary and lifelong home for native wildlife and exotic animals that have been abandoned or abused. Currently it is home to over 130 animals of 35 different species, including tigers, lemurs, monkeys, wolves, birds and some endangered species from six continents. Interesting and informative animal presentations by expert zookeepers are offered daily. EL MORRO IN SAN JUAN 

El Morro, or by its official name – Castillo de San Felipe del Morro – is a 400 year-old fort located at the entrance of the San Juan harbor. Visitors to El Morro can do a self-guided tour, or attend a free 20-30 minute orientation ever hour on the hour in English, and on the half-hour in Spanish.

The Lincoln Memorial is a classic D.C. landmark. Whether you’ve never been, or you’ve seen it 100 times, you are sure to be in awe of the beauty of this stunning marble tribute to Abraham Lincoln. The imposing statue of the 16th President of the United States is 19 feet tall sculpted by Daniel Chester French. Visitors can read quotations from Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, which are carved into the domed structure that shelters the sculpture.
