Sanford Zoo

You can also take to the sky and enjoy the aerial adventure course, ZOOm Air Adventure Park or bring your flip-flops and swimsuit to cool-off in the Wharton-Smith Tropical Splash Ground. The Sanford Zoo also offers Spring Break Camps and Summer Camps with fun activities, animal encounters and an educational experience that everyone will enjoy. From alligators to large jungle cats, everyone will enjoy seeing their favorite animal!

Fort Mellon Park & Sanford Derby Park

A visit to Sanford isn’t complete without exploring the local parks. Fort Mellon Park and Sanford Derby Park are two local favorites in the area, offering huge playgrounds and trails for all kinds of biking and skating. Fort Mellon Park surprises with a huge playground and splash pad, perfect for a hot, sunny day in Florida. Shoot some hoops, race down the playground slides and cool off with water activities all in one convenient location at Fort Mellon. Racing down the hill at Sanford Derby Park is another great activity for a sunny day. Kids can bring their own “vehicles,” aka tricycles, bikes and PlasmaCars, and race all they want. http://www.sanfordfl.gov

Fresh Strawberries

White’s Red Hill Groves

A family-owned-and-operated business since 1962, White’s Red Hill Groves feature Florida’s finest citrus, fresh vegetables and herbs. Start your day by visiting the farm store and looking around before heading into the greenhouse to collect fresh strawberries. From floor to ceiling, there’s berries everywhere, perfect for kid-and-adult-level-picking. After picking strawberries, check out the fresh peppers, cilantro and other fresh herbs and veggies growing next to the greenhouse and take a moment to chat with the chickens that provide the farm with fresh eggs. For the grand finale, venture over to the Orange Grove and see the acres of orange trees. No picking allowed here, but you can purchase juice and other items from the farm store.
