Next time you visit Palm Springs, plan some time to check out a local landmark: Palm Springs Walk of Stars. The Walk of Stars was founded in 1992 and honors individuals with a Golden Palm Star embedded on the sidewalks of Palm Springs.
Stars are located on the sidewalks of Palm Canyon Drive, Tahquitz Canyon Way and Museum Drive. The Walk of Stars helps promote Greater Palm Springs, and educates the local community about its past.
The Palm Springs Walk of Stars has honored 408 individuals with a Golden Palm Star placed on the sidewalks of Palm Springs. Honorees have contributed to the Palm Springs community and as well in the fields of show business, humanitarian, sports, military, literary or civic pioneers.
Howard Keel, Liberace, Elizabeth Taylor, Elvis Presley, Dinah Shore, Sonny Bono, Merv Griffin, Presidents Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford as well as hundreds more have also joined the long list of celebrities who enjoy the special magic of this desert village.
Along with the Walk of Stars, you can explore Palm Canyon Drive’s unique shops, dining and entertainment; including the Palm Canyon Theatre.
The Palm Canyon Theatre produces about 13 Broadway musicals and classic plays each year, while also offering children’s theatre camp. This regional repertory theater operates primarily with volunteers is dedicated to the education of live stage production and the enrichment of the greater Palm Springs community and its visitors. This year’s shows include: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Evita, Rock of Ages and more.
