There are so many attractions in Los Angeles vying for every visitor’s time that it can be hard deciding which ones to check out during your trip—especially if you’re only in town for a few days. Some of the city’s coolest attractions, though, aren’t necessarily the first ones that come to mind.
BIKES AND HIKES LA
Rated the #1 outdoor activity in Los Angeles on TripAdvisor, this tour company offers a variety of tours that showcase the city’s many iconic locations, like its popular LA in a Day bike adventure. Departing daily at 10 a.m., the 32-mile, 6-hour journey leaves little unseen as guests pedal through such cities as Bel-Air and Santa Monica and even get up close to some historic movie studios. Other less intensive tours are available as well, including a Hollywood Bike Adventure, a Hollywood Hills Hiking Tour and a self-guided GPS bicycle tour through West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Whichever experience you choose, it’s a great way to see the sights while also enjoying some cardio in the process. bikeshikes.com
PETERSEN AUTOMOTIVE MUSEUM
A must for any car enthusiast, this striking museum is home to an impressive collection of vehicles spread out over three floors. Detailing the history, industry and artistry of automobiles, visitors will see everything from a three-wheeled 1948 Davis Divan—touted as “the car of the future”—to the oldest surviving gasoline-powered vehicle built in Los Angeles, the 1900 Smith Runabout. There’s also an assortment of famous movie cars on display, including the DeLorean, the Batmobile and a 1958 Plymouth Fury from Christine. Other highlights include a Cars exhibit for kids, complete with a life-size Lightning McQueen, and a collection of multi-million-dollar vehicles by Bugatti. Guests can see more than 120 vehicles that aren’t on public display by booking a 90-minute guided tour of the museum’s Vault, for an additional fee. petersen.org
SKYSLIDE AT OUE SKYSPACE LA
Located nearly 1,000 feet above downtown Los Angeles, this thrilling new attraction on the 70th floor of the famed U.S. Bank Tower lets guests slide 45 feet along the exterior of the building with nothing but jaw-dropping views of the city above, below and to the left of them. Although the experience lasts only seconds, riders can then soak up 360-degree views of the city from one of two open-air observation terraces for as long as they’d like. It’s truly an exhilarating sightseeing experience! oue-skyspace.com
